Oystars - Los Angeles, CA

I was on a oyster hunt and found out this place has $1 oyster from 11am to 9pm daily. Hells yes, I met work wife 2 with slave girl after work and ready for some oyster feast.

On the menu, there was blue point for $1 and miyagi (pacific) oyster for $1.50. Sadly, everything else was on regular price but a mug of beer for $4 wasn't too bad. We ordered half dozens of each oysters to decide which ones we like better. In addition, we also got Cajun tots fries.

They mean business, even print Happy Hour oyster on the menu

The plate came with 2 different sauces and limes (or lemons). One of the sauces was overly sweet and just tasted weird. The other one was the typical cocktail sauce. Personally I believe if the oysters are fresh enough, there is really no reason to use any sauces at all.

For the oysters, they were plump and decently sized. Any bigger would be gross. Blue point was flavorless but after repeatedly chewing over and over, a hint of oyster flavor finally burst through my teeth. Miyagi on the other hand was very flavorful. I understand now why they were 50 cents more even though they came from a closer state.

Loads more of Miyagi!

So juicy, so read

Now, what the hell is Cajun tots fries? Is it tots or is it fries? We found out when it came to the table. Ladies and gents, it was tots!! It was well seasoned and fried to crisp. This was the best tots I've ever had and I strongly encourage everyone to get this.

Overall, the food we got was solid. Service however wasn't that impressive. The servers were busy doing a lot of things except serving the customers. When work wife 2 showed up, no greetings, no water, nothing, like she was invisible or something. Well, they are lucky the food was good.
