Tsujita LA Artisan Noodle - Los Angeles, CA

I have heard about this place for a very long time because of their dipping ramen. Slave girl and I finally got time and went out to see if they were as good as people say.

Small seating

Look up!

Open kitchen

We got there around 10:45am on a Saturday. There were 6 tables ahead of us already. To save time and chaos, the server actually came out and took everyone's order before they opened the door. That was pretty smart.

We ordered char siu tsukemen (BBQ pork dipping ramen), tonkotsu ramen (BBQ pork ramen) with hard noodles, and a bowl of spicy tuna over rice.

After we were seated, we got ramen right away. Instead of the single serving char siu ramen we ordered, we got negi ramen. They didn't charge us extra since they screwed up the order, but there was so much green onion it messed up the pork broth for me. It felt watered down with very little pork flavor, mostly just salty. There was no egg and part of the pork was tender while other part was very chewy.

Negi Ramen (green onion ramen)

The pork from the dipping ramen had the same issue, but the egg and dipping broth was excellent. The broth was very flavorful and tasty, definitely one of the better ones out there. The biggest complaint I had was the noodles. It was severed cold so after half way through the dipping, the broth got as cold as the Alaska spring. I understand dipping ramen supposed to have the noodles served cold but it was already chilling outside so it's definitely not a winter dish.

Dipping sauce

The spicy tuna over rice was bland. There was a lot of rice and not enough anything. We could probably be OK without ordering it.

At the end, we asked for soup to be added to the  dipping broth. That was a nice touch but I wished more soup was added since we had two people to share. A side note here, we got running stomach that night and we were thinking it might be the hot leaf mustard, but we didn't know for sure. just be aware.
