MIAN - San Gabriel, CA

Slave girl and I love Chengdu Taste and we were excited when we heard Mian was opening. We have dined here couple of times and still enjoyed each time.

Parking on the store level was horrible, but underground parking was no problem. I am not sure why parking underground is such a drag that most people don't want to do it. Meh, their time, not mine.

This time we ordered steamed egg with minced pork, hot and sour wonton, zajiang noodles (dry noodles), and spare rib soup noodles.

What I really like about this place is they gave us cold mung bean soup as water and first pickled cabbage for free. Sure they had water to offer but mung bean soup was way more refreshing.

This was the second time I ordered steamed egg with minced pork. They made it so well here the egg had just the right texture and the temperature was perfect to consume when it came to the table. I would highly recommend this appetizer.

Hot and sour wonton was excellent. The wonton was packed with pork and the broth was addicting. There were plenty of wontons in the bowl to make it a meal on its own. It was just delicious.

The pork in the spare rib noodles were very tender. It was a surprise to me because the ribs in that size were usually dry, not here though. The broth was pretty mild in regular spicy level. All around a good dish.

The dry noodles were packed with flavors! Pork, veggie and fried egg, all of them together made it a tasting harmony. My favorite here for sure. I also ordered the noodle water on the side as soup and it worked well with the dry noodles in order to reduce the spiciness of the dish. A must try.

The service here was decent. Our server came by often to refill the mung bean soup, and easy to flag over if necessary. They also told me if we follow the restaurant on Instagram or write a yelp review, we got one free veggie appetizer. There were plenty noodles on the menu but not enough stomach to try them all in one setting. I will have to come back to finish the menu.
