Mama Lion - Los Angeles, CA (Koreatown)

Slave girl and I were in the area for an event but got some time to kill, so we came to Mama Lion for their happy hour. Mama Lion's entrance was located at the corner of Western and 6th. It looked elegant and upscale inside along with fancy looking hosts and bartenders. Everyone was friendly.

They have a regular menu for food and drinks, but since it was during happy hour, we took full advantage of the $6.01 everything happy hour menu. We ordered smothered tater tots, 6 oysters, crispy chicken sliders, and al pastor nachos. For drinks we tried old fashioned and east side, both were fantastic. (Thank you Joshua)

Smothered tater tots came with, well, tater tots AND braised short rib rogout covered with cheddar cheese. It was visually impressive with a lot of flavors. This would be the best value item to order during happy hour in my opinion.

Oysters came with champagne mignonette and chili lime vinaigrette to eat with. I believe the oysters were Pacific and they usually don't have much flavors except the textures, so eating with sauce would be the best in this case.

Crispy chicken sliders came with just two pieces, but it was much bigger than most sliders I've had. The chicken was crispy and delicious, but sadly a little too much mayo for my taste. Good buy if you are hungry.

Al pastor nachos was a win. It came with tortilla chips and pastor with queso fresco and cheddar on top. It was saucy and tasty, great to share among friends.

Overall I really enjoyed the food, the drinks, and the friendly service. While the regular menu may be more on the pricey side, it might worth a return visit.
