Lawry’s Carvery - Los Angeles, CA (DTLA)

Me and work bro were hungry for lunch but had no idea where to go. We found out some work friends from the office were going to Lawry's Carvery, and since I have not been to this location yet, the decision was easy.

The restaurant was counter service with indoor and outdoor seating. The drinks and utensils were self serving. There was a kitchen in the back but most of the food were put together in the front for customers to see.

The menu had good selections, but since it was lunch time, I just picked the half sandwich combo with prime rib. It also came with salad or soup, I went with the prime rib chili.

The prime rib sandwich was delicious! The meat was tender and flavorful. It came with horseradish and au ju on the side, perfect for sandwich dipping. The plate also came with potato chips.

The chili was equally good. Good flavor without any burning taste, decent amount of sizable prime rib chunks. I would suggest to order this every time. Office crew actually ordered a big bowl of chili and a plate of mac n' cheese then mixed the two together as his meal. Interesting and very creative!

Overall I loved the experience. The staff were very friendly and the food tasted good. The only thing I didn't like was the price. Half sandwich combo for $11 was fair, but to make it a prime rib, it would cost $4 more. That was a little hard to swallow. I would have been ok if it was only $2 more. Go back again was a yes, but not anytime soon due to the price point.
