Colori Kitchen - Los Angeles, CA (DTLA)

Work wife 1 really wanted calamari for lunch. Me and her both suggested a place but mine had more reviews with a higher rating so we came to Colori Kitchen for lunch.

When we got there around 12:45p, it was pretty empty inside. Because of it, the service was super awesome. We were constantly checked, always had water, and even got a chance to talk to our server a bit.

We asked her for recommendations and she suggested calamari steak (oh, it was fate for sure), and spaghetti with Manila clams. WW1 didn't want to have seafood only so we got penne alla bolognese instead of the spaghetti.

The complimentary bread was different. Most Italian restaurants give olive oil for dipping. Over here they used a spread that had a good hummus taste to it. Needless to say, bread was gone quickly with the delicious spread.

The calamari steak was indeed one of the best calamaris I've tasted. It was very well seasoned and grilled perfectly. Tender, juicy, and thinly sliced. There was really not much room for improvement.

Penne alla bolognese was tagliatelle pasta with Angus beef meat sauce. It didn't look all that amazing but it tasted really good. Beef was seasoned and the tomato sauce wasn't overpowering. After some fresh parmesan cheese sprinkle, we had a solid dish.

Overall I love this discovery. Excellent service, great food, simple concept. I am glad we tried it.
