Beverly Soon Tofu Restaurant - Los Angeles, CA (Koreantown)

Work wife was craving for Korean tofu badly during lunch time. There was really no tofu house around work, but luckily work bro told us about Beverly Soon Tofu House. What a great suggestion! If time allows, I would highly suggest to go there as early as possible for lunch. The parking lot was small and the valet guy was actually working during lunch tine.. We didn't valet because we got there around 11:30 so the parking was manageable, but by the time we left, we had to ask the valet guy to move vehicles behind our car.

The restaurant was cozy and could be easily packed by the lunch crowds. We looked through the menu and decided on regular combo soon tofu.

Something interesting I wanted to mention. They actually didn't give us cups for our tea, but instead we got bowls. I thought they were for rice and didn't touch them until I was instructed to use them for tea.

The side dishes came first. There were plenty of them and we were able to get free refills. I enjoyed the kimchi a lot and they also served a small plate of tofu with light soy sauce. A true tofu house for sure.

The combo soon tofu came with oyster, baby clams, and a choice of beef or pork. I picked beef. It also came with an egg, and the server actually came to our table to pop the egg in for us, how nice! The broth was flavorful and mild spicy was just right. What I liked the most was the beef. It was chunky and got a good texture unlike other tofu soup with ground beef. I was very impressed with what we got.

It was so good we went back again couple days later, and this time we ordered combo meals. Mine was with fish roe and bulgogi as the side, hers was the regular combo and squid on the side. The fish roe was interesting and satisfying, but probably not something to order all the time due to health concern.

Bug chunks of fish roes

The bulgogi was average. Not great but not bad, pretty good filler if you are hungry.

The squid though, oh my it was so tender and tasty. Totally worth the order and I would highly recommend this even if you are not in the mood for tofu. Just go for the squid!!

At the end of the day, I was very much in love with this place. The food was excellent, and the service was fantastic. The ladies working there were so busy but yet still make time to the table to provide their services. It's a place I would go back over and over for sure.
