Cafe 153 - Los Angeles, CA (DTLA)

Work bro and I were hungry and picked our spot to eat. Sadly, it was cash only so we decided to come to Cafe 153 to try our luck. Well, luck was on our side because they took credit cards here. Finding the cafe was not easy at all. There was no sign, and totally a hole in the wall. If it wasn't for the boss lady outside chatting with customer, I would have never found it.

This spot would be the best if we had ordered to go or delivery. Since it was so hot out, we decided to dine at the restaurant instead of walking in the heat. Guys, if you are into fine dining, this is not the spot for you. Our tables were on the side of a stairway and we had to dodge a guy carrying his bike downstairs during our meal. Lol. Totally reminded me Taiwan back in the days.

The menu had mostly Japanese style food. Sushi, bento box, sandwiches, salad, etc. The owner was Korean so our Japanese food also had a Korean twist to it. I ordered beef bento box that came with miso soup, fried dumplings, green salad, macaroni salad, and California rolls. I substituted the California rolls with spicy tuna rolls for $1 more.

When we got our food, I was a little shocked to see how much food we received. There were plenty to satisfy any hungry person and the food was tasty too. Spicy tuna was seasoned well. The beef was very tender and flavorful. They even came with hot sauce to spice up the dish!

Overall I was pleased. They weren't even in a hurry to ask us to pay for the food first when they brought the food to the table. We walked up to the counter after we finished the food without anyone watching us, the trust was real. They also deliver to downtown area and I would encourage everyone to try it once at least.
