OC Fair - Costa Mesa (CA)

OC Fair is definitely not something new to me and slave girl. Since it was coming to an end for 2017, we figured we would go on the last weekend to see if there was anything different from our last visit.

The first time we went to the fair, it was in 2015 and it was super fun especially when tickets being discounted with the can drive. We had a great time visiting all the vendors and trying out all kinds of food that could lead to multiple heart attacks. It was crowded but not unbearable. Overall a great time.

Couple of years later, the best thing for me was the off site free parking and free shuttle so we didn't have to pay the $10 parking fee at the fair.

The non-food vendors were pretty much the same, and we didn't see much new food items from the food stands. However, I found the "unicorn leg" and that poked my interest. It was a 5 lbs pork leg grilled to death and it cost $30 a piece. Sure it was huge but it was mostly bones and fat. The meat was bland and dry, and the pork skin was beyond dry and so hard to chew. I felt it was designed for either dog treats or wearable animal jackets. Well anyways, at least I could say I tried it.

Slave girl loved the tasti chips and she got that every year. While I wasn't a big fan like her, the chips was fried crispy but sadly not seasoned at all. No salt, no pepper. Just bland overall until we got ketchup.

Toward to the end of the night, it got super crowded all of sudden to a point we couldn't move like the 405. So we thought we would go to the video gaming hall to grab a free Rockstar. To our surprise, the doors were locked and guarded by a teenage girl. We told her we just wanted to grab the free Rockstar which was literally 15 steps away from the door. She took her job very very seriously and refused to let us in. Then we asked if she could get it for us, she declined again. At this point we asked for the supervisor and supervisor had no problems of us doing it. Hmmm, power tripping much?

Until next time!

OC Fair was not successful at all this year, especially with minimum shading areas for people to sit and eat. I think we are done with this fair until some magical food items are invented.
