The Restaurant at The Standard, Downtown LA - Los Angeles, CA (DTLA)

This was our 2nd DineLA spot. Lamb chop was the reason we picked this restaurant.

The restaurant was located inside the hotel by the lobby area. It was bright inside with modern decorations. They also had outdoor seats. The seats were limited to 4 people usually, so for the 5 of us, it was a little tight but manageable.

For our lunch, slave girl and I shared persimmons and prosciutto, citrus cured salmon toast, scallops, and lamb chop.

Persimmons and prosciutto also came with burrata, hazelnuts, saba, arugula, and pumpkin seed oil. It was very refreshing and everything worked well together. It was just enough to pick our appetite and not overwhelming. I have never thought persimmons can be used like this, pretty awesome.

Citrus cured salmon toast had spiced raita, beets, fennel, radish, pickled onions, and micro greens on the top asided from salmon. There was a lot going on and nearly impossible to taste the salmon. The toast was crunchy and hard, so after one bite, everything just fell off the toast. Not something we cared for.

The scallops were made perfectly. On the plate also had cauliflower risotto, sultana, caper, almond, thyme, and brown butter. This dish was delicious. Scallops and cauliflower risotto complemented each other, at the same time, nothing overpowered the scallops.

The lamb chops came with cured beets, bitter greens, winter squash, braised fennel, pumpernickel croutons, and salsa verde. When we ordered it, I asked the server if I could have mine medium rare, and my request was declined due to the kitchen pre-determined what my taste buds should be like. It came out medium well, way over cooked for me. Even though the flavor was good, I did not appreciate this dish.

Overall, the food was hit or miss, and the service didn't really exist. While it did, it was slow, soooo soooooo very slow. I couldn't even get our server to get our check at the end because eye contacts were avoided at all cost. All the dishes we tried were not on their regular menu and the portion was small. I don't think I would go back.
