Fatty and slave girl got invited to a tasting event with J-Goods Magazine at Marugame Udon. It's true, this place is the chain udon restaurant from Hawaii. For those of you who had the pleasures to dine at this place and happened to love them on the island, well, you don't have to purchase a flight ticket just to fly out for that udon anymore!
The parking here was hard but after 10 minutes circling around, we found a spot at a meter. The restaurant grand opening is on 9/14/2017 and I can't imagine the parking situation then.
The restaurant was cafeteria style, counter ordering service starting with a udon station. After I received the udon, I moved on to the tempura station and picked up some golden fried goodies. Then I moved to the rice bowl station for more carbs and flavor. Next, I stopped by the drink station for some hand packed beverages to accompany my meal. After paying for the meal, there was a self serve station for all the condiments I need for the food I just picked up and I was ready for heaven!
As for the udon, we tried a bunch of different ones and the best were beef udon, curry udon, and nikutama udon in that order. That beef they used had the same taste from Japan Yoshinoya and it was so so soooooo tasty! We would highly suggest to skip the tempura to fully enjoy the pure taste of the udon bowl. We also found out curry udon and spicy tuna bowl were great together and should always go as a good combo choice. Beef tomato udon seemed interesting but we wanted to stick to the hot udon so we didn't get to try it at this time, who wants to join us for a return trip?
